DIRTCOM Back office
DIRTCOM BO is designed to help streamline, automate and manage manufacturing processes.
DIRTCOM BO offers comprehensive and custom configurable coverage of your order fulfillment
life cycle.
Sample DIRTCOM BO workflow for a digital photos and gifts fulfillment process:
Orders captured through phone, postal mail, e-mail, websites and other internet
based ordering sources can be managed with different work flow variations in DIRTCOM
BO. For all non-internet orders, the first step is creation of the order in DIRTCOM
BO. There are three main parts to DIRTCOM BO order entry:
Following are storefront modules:
- customer information
- ordered product information and
- payment information
DIRTCOM BO provides tools to streamline your order processing workflow from capture
through allocation, production, quality, packaging and shipping with status monitoring
every step of the way. Use a customer order entry form to create offline orders
or import bulk batches from your or a partner internet interface. Your order operator
can also determine the checkpoints and enable manual interventions at the right
places – for example visual QC checking of all incoming image can be enabled and
supported with a checklist.
After reviewing the images, the Production Operator defines and processes batches
of orders, based on configurable grouping rules. For each batch processed, DIRTCOM
BO prints a Batch Summary Report and a set of Job Tickets (one for each order).
Where needed, an Imaging Operator uses DIRTCOM BO to manage orders that have been
flagged as needing retouch or replacement images. Once the images have been retouched
or replaced, the Imaging Operator (or the Production Operator) batches them for
production and the orders resume the normal workflow.
For orders with production items, DIRTCOM BO sends the batched images directly to
the printer. From there, a Production Operator gathers the sheets, and sends them
along with their Batch Summary Report and set of Job Tickets to the other production
areas. As the batch leaves each production area, the Operator in that area logs
the Batch out of their area by scanning the bar code on the Batch Summary Report
into DIRTCOM BO. By keeping all of the orders in the batch together and by logging
the batch out of each production area, and know the status on each order at any
given time.
From any production area with an DIRTCOM BO computer, an Operator can initiate a
re-make through the DIRTCOM BO QC feature by scanning the bar code on the order’s
Job Ticket. The Operator can invoke a re-make and either hold the rest of the order
or create a secondary order. When production items are finished (or for orders with
only merchandise items), a Packing Operator brings up the DIRTCOM BO Packing feature
by scanning the bar code on the order’s Job Ticket. Packing Operator validates contents
including all production items and merchandise items.
Lastly, the Shipping Operator scans the bar coded Job Ticket. DIRTCOM BO already
knows the shipping weight, address and shipping method for the order. A Customer
Packing Slip and a Shipping Label are printed for the order. DIRTCOM BO communicates
directly with the shipping carrier (FedEx, UPS, DHL, USPS) to acquire tracking numbers
and send the shipping information. As orders are shipped through DIRTCOM BO the
ordering source (for internet orders) is automatically updated with status and tracking
information.
